About the DesignerJakob Erbar – born 2. 8. 1878 in Düsseldorf, Germany, died 1. 7. 1935 in Cologne, Germany – type designer, teacher. Trained as a compositor in Düsseldorf and took courses in type with Fritz Helmut Ehmcke and Anna Simons. Job typesetter for the Dumont-Schauberg printing works in Cologne. 1908: teaches at the Städtische Berufsschule. 1919–35: teaches at the Kölner Werkschule.
