Font Designer – Sjoerd Hendrik de Roos

Dutch designer born on September 14, 1877 in Drachten. Died on April 3, 1962 in Haarlem.
Apprenticed as a lithographer before studying at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. From 1907 until 1941, he was employed at the Lettergieterij “Amsterdam”. Here he designed some of the Netherland’s most influential typefaces: De Roos (1947), Egmont (1933), Hollandse™ Mediaeval (1912), and Simplex (1939).
