Margaret Calvert (born 1936) created the font Calvert™ as a contemporary interpretation of the slab serif style (less mechanistic than many, owing more to humanist letterforms) in 1980.

The slab serif typeface Calvert was designed by Margaret Calvert with a marked constructed look. The unique design of its serifs distinguishes this typeface. Many figures have only half serifs, for instance, the A, M, and X, which lends the typeface its constructed character.
