A Look Back at Typotechnica 2007 Part 2
Not everything at the conference had to revolve around cutting edge technology. Above, Prof. Werner Schneider (second from right) discusses calligraphy with Akira Kobayashi (right) and two conference attendees.
In one of the first day’s last sessions, Thomas Merz
explained how his PDFLib products can improve workflows.
Friday evening’s Gala Dinner was held underneath the
historic Römer, Frankfurt’s city hall. Above Luc(as) de Groot (right) admires the setting’s beautiful vaulted ceilings.
The Gala Dinner was one of the conference’s highlights, allowing the attendees to mingle in an informal, social setting.
Another highlight of the conference was FontLab’s presentation of Photofonts, and how these will soon be able to be used to help web designers set more expressive text online with the help of sIFR technology.
The coffee breaks also gave conference attendees time to catch up. Here, Adobe’s Miguel Sousa (left) is engaged in deep discussion with Dan Rhatigan (right), a typeface design student at the University of Reading.
Microsoft’s Peter Constable explained what new font elements have been added to the newest Windows operating system, Vista.
Miguel Sousa’s presentation on how Adobe generates their font files was one of the best-attended sessions of the entire conference. Standing room only!
