| Product | Magazine “Linotype Matrix” | | | Description |
New Linotype Matrix is now available!
Linotype Matrix is a typographical journal, published from time to time by Linotype. The Linotype Matrix was a quarterly newssheet produced by Linotype and Machinery Ltc. From the 1930s through the 1960s. The publication carried information about Linotype products, and the printing trade, but also included several articles on type and typography. As such, it was a platform were new types were portrayed, and the journal often followed up with success stories of Linotype originals.
Almost 50 years after the last issue, volume 4 of the Linotype Matrix returns, this time in magazine format. Rich in content and graphics, the new look takes into consideration the reading habits and design trends of today. But the purpose is still the same: to showcase the hidden gems of the Linotype Library, and to provide a platform for design discourse and typographic expression. 4 color print.

| Product | | | Description | Released in time for the 2007 Frankfurt Book Fair, this is a new book about a famous typeface.
Created in 1957, Helvetica is an icon of Swiss graphic design, which in turn was a model of soberly functional communication during the postwar era. The balanced and neutral appearance of Helvetica foregoes expressiveness – a quality for which the design has both been criticized and admired. This polarization has helped the typeface gain unparalleled notoriety.
Helvetica is one of the most widely used types today. Helvetica forever retraces the design’s fifty-year history, comparing it with other well-known sans serif faces from the twentieth century, and examining the phenomenon of its unparalleled spread. The book’s illustrations show the multitude of ways that the family has been used over the past five decades, including examples from a wide variety of fields – everything from signal design to party flyers!

| Product | | | | Description | A cooperative project between Linotype GmbH and the University of Applied Sciences, Wiesbaden. For two semesters under the leadership of Prof. Guido Ludes and Stefanie Weber, Certified Designer, students at the University of Applied Sciences, Wiesbaden experimented with selected typefaces from Linotype. The results of this typographical research are presented in trytype, ranging from linear black-and-white graphics all the way up to complex, three dimensonal font universes, literary interpretations and freehand illustrations. Examples of the didactic steps that led to the creation of the various works are shown and explained in sketches. Not only does this unique combination make trytype a rich source of inspiration, inviting us to view and discover typography in a new light, the book should also be understood as an encouragement to work with characters and typographic systems in ways fully independent of readability.
152 pages, 23,5 x 27,5 cm, Hardcover with blind embossed and dust jacket.
