The fonts from the Restaurant Menu Value Pack: Diotima® Diotima was designed by Gudrun Zapf von Hesse in 1948, the italic even earlier, in 1939. Its roots had been a calligraphic sheet made by Gudrun Zapf von Hesse with the texts of "Hyperion to Diotima" by Friedrich Hölderlin. Diotima is the name of a Greek priestess in Plato’s dialogue about love and in the philosopher’s imagination she should be slim and beautiful. The hotmetal version of Diotima was released by D. Stempel AG in 1951–53. It is a festive font particularly well-suited to invitations, programs and poems. The delicate italic draws attention to text which should be emphasized. Zapf von Hesse’s Ariadne Initials and Smaragd are perfect complements to Diotima. Engravers™ Engravers is a typeface based on styles of engraved lettering that were popular at the end of the nineteenth century in America and abroad. American Type Founders, Inc. (ATF) released a successful ancestor of this design in 1903. Today, Linotype’s Engravers brings turn-of-the-century elegance to directly to your keyboard. Use the Engravers typeface on any formal piece – from table cards, to menus, invitations, or advertising work. Kuenstler Script® After inventing a new metal typecasting procedure that allowed for the production of more detailed typefaces, the famous German typefoundry D. Stempel AG developed Kuenstler Script in 1902–1903. Originally called "Künstlerschreibschrift" (artistic handwriting), this design was based on English copperplate script styles from the late 1800s. Like intricate handwriting put to paper with a feather and an inkwell, Kuenstler Script makes almost any text look distinguished and elegant. Kuenstler Script is a joining script; and because of its fine hairlines and small x-height, it is best used at sizes above 12 pt. The typeface works well in advertising work and on invitations, greetings cards, business cards, and certificates. Papyrus® Papyrus™ is a roman calligraphic typeface with distinctive human touches like rough edges, irregular curves, and high horizontal strokes in the caps. It imparts a warm and friendly ambience to everything from restaurant menus to book covers. American Chris Costello created the popular font Papyrus in 1983 and counts it as one of his proudest accomplishments. In addition to designing type, Costello is a prolific graphic designer, illustrator, and web designer. Saga™ Saga is a rather narrow typeface designed for a typeface competition arranged by a Scandinavian graphic arts magazine. It had to be based on ancient runic characters, that’s the reason of some peculiar angular shapes. Saga is not att all a new runic typeface, but a usable one when the columns are narrow. The name is taken, of course, from the Nordic mythology. But "saga" in the meaning of "story" contributed to the decision about the name. Saga was released in 1992.
