User-friendly Technology with CorporateTypeModern workflow managementCorporateType ensures that typographic specifications are seamlessly implemented within corporate design guidelines regardless of limitations imposed by computer hardware or software. Inevitably documents will be distributed among computers with different operating systems and applications. Without modification this can cause problems with font display. The Mac version of a font is often not recognized by a PC (and vice versa) due to naming conflicts and will therefore be replaced with a standard font. For example, Frutiger can often mutate into Arial even when the original font (with a different naming convention) is installed on the computer receiving the document. Font styles such as bold, italic and bold italic can also corrupt after transfer. The originating application and computer may have the correct linking of font styles in the font package but the receiving computer may have different names and therefore wrong links for the fonts, so the computer cannot apply them. It gets more complicated, when a company’s custom made typeface is used in both formats PostScript and TrueType. Problems like differences in the width of the font or in the make-up are no longer exception and aggravate with migration to other operating systems. Font files need to be adapted to one another to allow the correct use of a font. With CorporateType Linotype provides companies with custom-made versions of corporate fonts in PostScript and/or TrueType format ensuring all the correct linking of the weights and identical standard layouts. System adminstrators manage the installation of the CorporateType at every workstation guaranteeing font attributes that are independent of operating system and font format through a consistent naming definition in the adapted font files. The smooth document transfer enable by CorporateType results in the efficiency expected in any technical processes and a employees concentrating on content.
