typo[media] 98
2nd "typo[media] – faces in motion" congress in Frankfurt am Main
The first two-day typo[media] congress took place in May 1997 under the name "typo[media] 97, type in the media", and attracted a great deal of interest in Germany and abroad. Over 450 visitors and speakers came to Frankfurt from all over the world. The success of the event lay in the choice and structure of its topics, which dealt with the use of type in different media (including TV, the Internet and calligraphy). The comprehensive program of lectures was backed up by workshops and exhibitions. The highlight was the awards ceremony for the 2nd International Type Design Contest.
typo[media] 98 will take place on 5–6 November 1998, once again in Frankfurt am Main, and is being organised by Linotype GmbH. "We are sure", says Managing Director Bruno Steinert, "that we’ve hit the right note by giving as much information as possible to specialists from the fields of design, advertising, marketing and corporate communications about the importance and numerous applications of quality types and technical solutions in traditional and new media."
Like last year, typo[media] 98 will be featuring a range of interesting topics, events and well-known speakers. Further details and the final program will be made available nearer the time. Anybody who is interested can put their name down now (contact Linotype Library at the address given overleaf).
If you would like to receive documentation about typo[media] 97, the "Instant No. 50" booklet is still available, priced DM 25, incl. VAT.
