Will Carter – born 24. 9. 1912 in Slough near London, England, died 17. 3. 2001 – type designer, printer.
1930–32: trains at the Unwin Brothers printing works in Woking. 1938: works at the Paul Koch workshop in Frankfurt am Main; becomes friends with Hermann Zapf. 1948: studies punch cutting with David Kindersley. 1949: founds the Rampant Lions Press in Cambridge.

David Kindersley (born 11. 6. 1915 in Codicote, died 2. 2. 1995 in Cambridge) and Will Carter designed the font Octavian™ in 1962. Mr. Carter writes: "While the ultimate authority is the ancient inscriptional pattern, the physical characteristics of the present rendering are manifest in the economic proportions of the shapes and the modified relations of the strokes.
