The repetition of simple geometric shapes forms a daily part of our environment. It is thought Jenson was punch cutter (master of the mint) for the royal mint in Tours or Paris. 1458: Carl VII sends Jenson to Mainz to learn the technique of movable metal type and bring it back to Paris. Baskerville was developed in the 18th century by John Baskerville (1706–1775) and its clear, sharp image set it apart from others of its time. Originally released in only two versions, roman and italic, Baskerville has remained one of the world's most widely used typefaces.
ITC New Baskerville is available in roman, semi bold, bold and black weights, each with a corresponding italic.
David Quay – born 3. 1. 1948 in London, England – graphic designer, type designer, typographer, teacher.

The British designer Alan Birch created the fonts Bitmax™, LCD™, Rubber Stamp™ and Synchro™.
Bitmax was designed in 1990. Birch was inspired by the look of fax transmissions. He took Helvetica™ medium and used controlled distortions to create this commanding, high-tech style. Bitmax is best used in large display sizes for a limited number of words.

The late Phill Grimshaw was a prolific designer who delighted in the sheer fun and challenge of drawing display typefaces. His fonts reflect his understanding of calligraphy, his own imagination for dynamic letterforms, and his knack for drawing a great variety of styles. The idea for ITC Malstock is based on a sign painting technique that uses a flat brush and a Maalstok, a long bar with soft padding which is used as a rest for the painter's hand and a guide for vertical lines. ITC Arid is a lively calligraphy typeface which looks as though it was put to paper with a piece of charcoal. Generous capitals mix harmoniously with the more reserved lower case characters and the forward slant of both create a dynamic impression. Arid should be used in point sizes of 12 and larger and is well-suited for headlines and short to middle-length texts.

[...]British designer Donald Stevens created Aristocrat™ in 1978. Aristocrat is a fitting name for this sort of design. The elegant script face combines intricate capitals with a reserved lowercase.

Linotype previously had three design studios located around the globe:
Mergenthaler Linotype, in the United States, was founded in Brooklyn, but later moved to Melville, NY, and then to Hauppauge, NY. Mergenthaler Linotype's design studio employed at varying times up to 80 designers under the direction of Chauncey H. Griffith, Jackson Burke, Mike Parker, and Matthew Carter.
In continental Europe, Linotype typefaces were produced by the D. Stempel AG typefoundry in Frankfurt, Germany.
[...]Dudley Rees designed ITC Black Tulip™ in 1997. The font was inspired by the modular simplicity of the Greek fret band, an ancient repeating pattern formed by tracing a line at right angles between two horizontal rules to form an interlocking motif. Rees admired the discipline of the motif, “I saw how that simple rigid rectangular network suggested an alphabet that would need little or no kerning,” he says. He describes ITC Black Tulip as a “dramatic headline face”.

Jim Spiece was born in Wabash, Indiana in 1946. He spent his college years at Indiana University in Bloomington. After working at an advertising agency in New York, he founded his own studio, Spiece Graphics, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
