The prizes were given out in a special Award ceremony in Dubai on April 6. As part of the Kitabat: Arabic Calligraphy and Typography Conference, the evening was attended by speakers and conference delegates and special guests from around Dubai and the Middle East. Sultan Free, designed by Sultan Maktari in 2005, is a freestyle Ruqaa and a winner in Linotype's first Arabic Typeface Design Competition. The design is open, calligraphic, and very dynamic. This makes it suitable for large display sizes, especially in the area of advertising, while still functioning well as a text face. The font includes a matching Latin design and support for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. It also includes proportional and tabular numerals for the supported languages.
