The repetition of simple geometric shapes forms a daily part of our environment. Throughout the 20th century – and into the 21st – typefaces whose designs have taken advantage of this have remained popular. But finding exactly the right mood can be tricky. For your convenience, we have grouped some of our favorite geometric typefaces (mostly sans serif and symbol) into four categories: circles, squares, ovals, and triangles.
German designer Georg Popp created the font Linotype Circles™ (1997), Linotype Squares™ (1997), Linotype Triangles™ (1997), American Indian™ (2002) and Linotype Sindbad™ (1997). Please take a look at the personal designer portrait of Georg Popp.

Designer: Georg Popp, 2002
The Linotype American Indian™ Font Family is part of the TakeType Collection.
German designer Georg Popp designed Linotype American Indian in 2002. This symbol font contains mostly-triangular elements, which were inspired by paintings and other arts practiced by the North American Plains Indians. Popp has a distinct love for patterns, which may also be seen in his other fonts for Linotype ( Linotype Circles , Linotype Squares , Linotype Triangles , and Linotype Sinbad ). His interest in patterns first began after seeing beautiful ornamental tile-pattern patios in Oman. In the Sultanate, these precious pieces of design are in danger of being eradicated by modernity and technology; Popp decided to use modern technological developments to keep these treasures alive. He chose font technology to carry out this task.
The symbols in Linotype American Indian, and Popp's other fonts, add a delightful touch to any design, especially when used in repetition. Try setting them large in your next flyer or brochure.
Linotype American Indian, as well as Linotype Circles, Linotype Squares, and Linotype Triangles, are all included in the Take Type 4 collection from Linotype GmbH.
