Born in 1947 in Portsmouth, England and after schooling entered a 5 year apprenticeship with the Metal Box Company, Portsmouth. Trained in Design, Lettering, Calligraphy and Sign Writing under gifted lettering artists Norman March and Dieter Smith. Font Designer: Matthew Carter, 1972 Shelley® Script was designed by Matthew Carter and appeared with Mergenthaler Linotype in 1972. It is based on intricate English scripts of the 18th and 19th centuries.
