Belwe™ by Adobe Condensed belongs to the Belwe™ by Adobe Font Family which is part of the ITC Collection.
Die Schrift Belwe, die 1926 von Georg Belwe, einem deutschen Typograf und Lehrer, erschaffen wurde, hat einen ungewöhnlichen, schwer zu beschreibenden Stil. Belwe ist eine Synthese vieler verschiedener Genren: es ist eine serifenbetonte Schrift im Jugendstil mit etlichen Einflüssen von gebrochenen Schriften. Die angewinkelten Serifen der Oberlängen und die kalligrafischen Schnörkel bei den Unter- und Oberlängen von V, W und Y wirken wie mit der Feder angesetzt. Weitere einzelne Zeichen sind ebenfalls anders als bei anderen Designs: betrachten Sie einmal das verspielte kleine a, die schnörkeligen Kleinbuchstaben f und g und bei den Großbuchstaben die einzigartigen Formen von C, F, L und R. Belwe wirkt am besten in großem Format, kann aber auch bei kleinen Textmengen eingesetzt werden. Die Anmutung der Schrift macht Belwe perfekt für den Einsatz bei Speisekarten, Einladungen und Beschriftungen, bei denen eine persönliche, freundliche Note zum Ausdruck kommen soll. Da Belwe der Jugendstil-Epoche entstammt, wirkt die Schrift auch gut bei Gestaltungen der viktorianischen Epoche zwischen 1920 und 1930.
