About Foreign Style 1 Value Pack ...

Designer: various, 2005
Foreign Style 1 Value Pack is part of the Linotype Originals.
Linotype's Foreign Style 1 Value Pack offers five fonts that are all in the style of non-western writing systems. Linotype Chineze and Mandarin both use stylized Chinese-like brush strokes to make up the Roman alphabet and other common Western European characters. Linotype MhaiThaipe takes elements from Thai, creating a stylized western face decorated with open circles and extra curves. Sho, a calligraphic face from Karlgeorg Hoefer, does not mimic any particular foreign writing system. However, this font, also inspired by American sho-card lettering, exudes the same feelings as all brush-written scripts, like Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. Linotype Tiger, an elaborate display font, is best used in very large sizes. There, one can see the design's intrinsic level of detail, which would feel right at home in Japanese Manga, or other Asian comic books.
