Handwriting Value Pack
Linotype’s Handwriting Value Pack bundles five expressive fonts together for one low price! Included are Ashley® Script, ITC Dartangnon™, ITC Grimshaw Hand™, Linotype Elisa™ Bold, and Linotype Finerliner™ Macro. Handwriting faces give an air of intimacy to the graphic design of advertising pieces, packaging, invitations, and greeting cards. Here is some further detail about this package’s delights:
These typefaces are included in the Handwriting Value Pack:
Ashley Script immortalizes the writing of its own designer, Ashley Havinden. Released in 1955, it reflects the spirit of its age. The sharp forms of the lower case “s” as well as the six-like “d” interrupt the otherwise homogeneous alphabet, lending dynamism. Ashley Script is spontaneous and best used for middle length texts and headlines.
ITC Dartangnon hails from England’s Nick Cooke. He doodled these forms with a chunky pencil, and then turned his drawings into monoline letters. The characters in the font do not join exactly, but the impression is energetic and entertaining nonetheless.
Christopher Young’s Linotype Elisa Bold is a flowing calligraphic design with an almost romantic touch. Text set in this font will has a personal flair and is legible in point sizes of 8 and larger.
Linotype Finerliner Macro is from the hand of the American artist Gary Munch, from whom we also have Linotype Ergo™ and Linotype Really™. This is small script, with regularly formed lowercase letters that contrast nicely with generous, sweeping capitals.
The eponymous ITC Grimshaw Hand is also based its designer’s handwriting. Phill Grimshaw’s typeface is peppered with panache: note the jaunty “k,” the swooping “f,” the simply stylish “s,” and the absolutely zingy cap “Q” and “R.”
